While providing effective and proactive security is our topmost priority, we have some responsibility towards the environment. And we don’t do it for the sake of staying in compliance with the environmental legislation. It is more than that.
We strongly believe that sustainability should be part of our corporate responsibility. After all, the way we use or handle waste, energy, and water leaves a huge impact on the environment.
Whether it’s a business or an individual, survival with the dearth of fuel, contaminated water, and rising temperatures is difficult.
In celebration of Earth Day this week to demonstrate support for environmental protection, here we have shared our sustainable environmental practices, from reducing paper waste to educating our team members.
WE PROMOTE PAPERLESS ACTIVITIES:
Did you know? One tree is cut down to create 8,000 paper sheets.
With one person using more than two pieces of paper every hour, it accounts for 250-300 kilos of paper every year. And paper accounts for 40% of waste in the United States alone.
It means that one business costs several trees on an average through invoices, outgoing mail, notes, and documents. Needless to say, trees are important for our environment as they filter the air, supply oxygen and absorb harmful gases like carbon monoxide and sulfur dioxide.
To minimize the use of paper across our organization, we use technologies like Secure Track and automated operation systems to replace our all paper-based needs like reporting, documentation, invoices, and outgoing mail. Our supervisors use tablets now and our sales team even suggested we sometimes send out digital copies of proposals instead of those printed.
It not only makes our process simple and fast but also contributes to saving the earth one tree at a time. Saving or recycling one ton of paper saves nearly 17 trees, 682.5 gallons of oil and 2600 liters of water; that’s a lot.
WE EDUCATE OUR GUARDS Our guards represent the values and ethics of our business. Protecting the environment is one of their duties. We lead them by example through small acts such as recycling, being efficient with any source of energy, and having them aware of their surroundings and the environment.
When our people see their managers and supervisors care for the environment, they feel encouraged to do the same. When everyone in our organization works together, environment safety becomes a responsibility instead of a burden.
At our headquarters in Irvine, California, we use energy saving monitors, printers and other equipment. We use natural lighting and have motion sensors to turn them off automatically when they are not in use. We also involve employees by asking for their suggestions about reducing trash and energy consumption.
STORAGE OF WASTAGE AND RECYCLING We make sure that any waste we produce as a result of our business operations is stored safely and securely, treated rightly and collected for recycling or disposal by the designated authority to do so.
However, we are extra careful when it comes to disposing of hazardous substances like chemicals, oils, fuels, and certain cleaners. We make sure that they are being handled and managed safely so that they don’t pose a threat to lives and their surroundings.
SAVING WATER We take our taps and faucets seriously in the office very seriously.
This is because a dripping faucet or tap can waste 10,000 liters a year. We get them fixed and check our pipes for leakages. This is even important as many areas in California including Irvine are facing drought conditions.
TAKING CARE OF THE EARTH… So this is how we are an eco-friendly business. We believe that every step, no matter if it’s large or small, makes the difference. And it not only feels good to make a difference but leads to a greater impact when a dedication to being eco-friendly is made and put into practice. We hope that you will appreciate our contributions to make our home–planet earth–a better place to live in.
